Attending therapy is a personal decision and a powerful step toward growth and healing.
Therapy offers a supportive space to heal from trauma, make important life decisions, manage mental health, and improve relationships. No matter your reason for seeking help, therapy can equip you with the tools to cope, manage symptoms, and respond to challenges in ways you might not be able to on your own.
At Genesis Outpatient Services, Inc., we offer a wide range of therapy options to meet your unique needs, including individual, couples, family, and group therapy.
During your first session, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process. Your goals for therapy and a schedule will be discussed if you plan to move forward. During your first session, your therapist will ask questions to better understand you and what brings you to counseling. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions you have about the therapy process. Together, you’ll discuss your goals and, if you choose to continue, establish a schedule that works for you.
A typical therapy session lasts between 45 and 53 minutes, though the exact length can be tailored to fit your individual needs and preferences.
Therapists do not prescribe medication.
Only medical doctors (MDs), physician assistants (PAs), and nurse practitioners (NPs) have the authority to prescribe medications. If medication is a concern, we can provide referrals to your primary care provider or mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists or nurse practitioners in your area.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the client-therapist relationship.
We do not share any information without your written consent. The only exceptions are if there is suspected abuse of a child, dependent adult, or elder, or if there is a serious threat of harm to yourself or others.
